Drottning Blanka's Upper Secondary School in Gävle was founded in 2013 and offers vocational and university preparatory education within the Business Program, Social Sciences Program, Hairdressing and Stylist Program, and Sales and Service Program. The school has approximately 400 students and 35 employees. We are now seeking a vocational teacher in hairdressing.

Your assignment

Since its start in 2013, the school has trained hair and makeup stylists. Now we are expanding our operations with the hairdressing profile starting in August 2026. Therefore, we are now seeking a vocational teacher in hairdressing who wants to help build Gävle's best hairdressing education.

The position is 80-100% depending on what we agree upon and is a permanent position with a 6-month probation period starting on August 11, 2026.

As a vocational teacher in hairdressing, you take great responsibility for planning and conducting the teaching. You will have good opportunities to influence the design of the school's salon and the education's setup in consultation with the principal and colleagues within the program. You will also be the face outward to present the program to future students both at open houses and on social media.

• Workplace-Based Learning - Preparatory work to find placement opportunities for year two.
• Mentorship for students in the Hairdressing and Stylist Program
• Support colleagues within the program as needed.
• (Possibly responsible for the school's social media)

Your profile

Primarily, we are seeking you who are a licensed vocational teacher, alternatively have long professional experience as a hairdresser. If you do not have a vocational teacher degree, we see that you have the willingness to study to become a licensed vocational teacher going forward. However, the most important thing is still good professional knowledge, pedagogical skills, and the desire to create a really good education for the students.

Meritorious is if you have experience supervising workplace-based learning students, have a journeyman's certificate as a hairdresser, and experience as a hair and makeup stylist.

As a teacher, you are attentive, have good structure in both planning and lesson setup, and have good ability to create motivation and study environment among our students.

As a colleague, you take responsibility for both small and large questions in everyday life and want to actively contribute to the school's development during joint conferences.

As a vocational teacher, you are part of a work team with several vocational teachers at the school. You work closely together and have continuous conferences to develop the program and collaboration in assessment matters. You are also part of a larger network with vocational teachers from our 25 other schools within Drottning Blanka and meet through digital meetings a couple of times a year.

You also have the opportunity for internal professional development by visiting one of our other schools in Gothenburg for a kickoff for teachers in hairdressing and hair and makeup stylist.
