Description
Your Role
In the role of school counselor at Dalbacken's independent school in Hemmingsmark, you are part of the school's student health team with associated tasks and work closely with the school's safety team.
Your assignment has a clear preventive focus and includes work on issues related to safety, well-being, and school attendance. You contribute to the school's systematic work with mapping, documentation, and follow-up of safety, equal treatment, and work environment issues and actively participate in the school's preventive work at the individual, group, and organizational levels.
You have close collaboration with the school's various professions and act as an important link between students, educators, and guardians. A significant and central part of the assignment is the (co-)work with guardians, where you work with parental support and parental collaboration in both preventive and more complex matters. You serve as a bridge between home and school and work to create shared understanding, involvement, and sustainable solutions regarding the student's situation.
You also have an active role in the work with problematic school absenteeism and work closely with both the student and family to strengthen the conditions for attendance and a functioning school experience.
The assignment also includes supervision of school staff and preventive work in the classroom, for example through interventions that strengthen students' social skills and safety in the school environment.
Your Competence and Experience
We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker and have experience working with children and youth. You have a good understanding of children's and youth's living conditions and how psychosocial factors can affect learning, well-being, and school attendance.
It is meritorious if you have experience in social work with children, youth, and/or families, for example within school, student health, social services, or other similar activities. It is also meritorious if you have further studies or courses in pedagogy, social work, or quality development for learning. We also appreciate if you have experience working with children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorder-related issues.
As a person, you are responsible and have a strong commitment to creating a safe and inclusive school environment. You show personal maturity and have the ability to act professionally, patiently, and structured even in difficult or pressured situations. You are good at building trusting relationships and enjoy working in close collaboration with other professions.
The work may involve meetings with children, youth, and families in crisis or with complex life situations. Therefore, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and treat people with respect, sensitivity, and professionalism.
